The Provo Library Events Department is seeking a highly credible individual to fill the position of Security Guard at the Provo City Library in College Square.

Salary: $12 per hour. (Payments will be made by direct deposit.)
Key Responsibilities: Individuals appointed to this position are expected to perform the following roles: Maintain security of the library and facilities; Monitor security cameras; Observe and/or patrol designated areas or routes; Write shift reports on daily activities; Monitor and report theft, vandalism or general misconduct; assistance to other team members when needed; and perform other related work as required.
Minimum Requirements: Ability to read and follow instructions and interact with the public at a level sufficient to demonstrate performance of job duties. Experience in customer service and security is a plus. Ability tests are available. Selected candidates will receive basic security training prior to starting their roles.
Selection Factors: Ability to quickly and objectively analyze a situation, identify potential hazards and determine an appropriate course of action; handle stressful situations with firmness, tact and respect for individual rights; communicate clearly orally and in writing; Background colleagues and citizens maintain effective relationships; observe and remember details.
Working hours: approximately 15 to 20 hours a week, Monday to Friday, from 5 pm to 11 pm, Saturday, from 9 am to 11 pm. Actual schedules will be developed by supervisors based on departmental needs.
Physical/Environmental Factors: The job requires physical strength and dexterity to perform the job; exposure to adverse weather conditions, hazardous materials and potentially stressful environments.
Pre-Employment Test: Prior to appointment, applicants will be required to pass a drug screening and a criminal background check. Failure to disclose may result in dismissal. Applicants with an unsatisfactory drug screening result will be ineligible for appointment or candidacy for any Provo City office for at least 6 months.

Summary of work:
Responsible for the investigation of security incidents in hospitals and medical schools, crisis response, intervention in belligerent patients, security emergency response, monitoring of advanced access control and surveillance systems. Ensure the safety of patients, staff, visitors, students, buildings, property and facilities.
Minimum qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent with one (1) year of work experience or equivalent and/or combination of required experience.
A valid driver’s license is required.
New hires must complete the basic IAHSS certification within 6 months of hiring.
Current employees must complete the IAHSS core certification within 12 months. Once IAHSS Foundation Certification is achieved, it must be kept current and needs to be renewed every 5 years at Foundation or higher level.
Priority Qualifications:
Experience in a hospital environment will be an asset.
Experience in customer service preferred.
Professional experience in the healthcare field is desirable.
Prioritize understanding complex access control and security monitoring systems.
Understanding and experience with preferential rights235.
